Scuba Diving in Mathidhoo Thila

Location: West of Odegallao

A fair distance dive site which takes about 45 – 60 minutes to reach. Located inside the atoll reef starting from 3 – 5 meters dropping down to 30 meters with beautiful coral life around. The reed is about 30 – 35 meters in diameter and one can expect a beautiful calm experience diving in Maldives.

Coral life: Healthy branching corals and boulder corals can be seen around the site.

Marine life: Schools of glass fish, fusiliers and bait fish are common, as well as large groupers, snappers, and tuna. A variety of shrimps, nudibranchs, scorpion fish and occasionally octopuses can be spotted here as well. Occasional sightings of white and black tip reef sharks.

Dive technique: Does not require a special technique hence advisable to enter and follow the reef along with the current, if any. Best way is to start from the deep and progress to shallows while focusing on small objects.
